I am Lori Sue Herman and I established Kid Sitters in 2005. I am also a parent and practicing attorney in Edgartown.
Some friends and I discussed the difficulties facing visitors to the island in finding childcare. This was a challenge for seasonal residents, guests and others.
Also, the island is a popular wedding destination and the wedding guests and hosts often need help at their events.
So, a discussion became a business…
We serve all six island towns: Aquinnah, Chilmark, Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven (Tisbury) and West Tisbury (& Chappaquiddick and Menemsha).
Our sitters are reference checked, background checked and experienced. We are proud that some have been with us since the beginning. Our sitters are local students, teachers and other islanders, also college students (seasonal) from across the US.
We have provided assistance caring for customers’ pets as well.
